During the first two or three days after surgery, it is better to keep your head elevated above your body so that interstitial fluids can drain from the nose, head, and face.

Sleeping After Rhinoplasty
After rhinoplasty it is better to sleep using two pillows so that the head remains slightly higher than the rest of the body. This position helps reduce fluid accumulation in the facial tissues, decreases swelling, and may even reduce the risk of bleeding. Patients also usually feel more comfortable in this position. This simple method is particularly effective during the first two weeks, and according to Dr. Hamidreza Hosnani even this small measure can help swelling subside faster and make the recovery period easier.

How to Sleep After Rhinoplasty:

The first important point about sleeping after rhinoplasty is that during the first two or three days after surgery, the nose and face usually become swollen. This happens because of minor bleeding under the skin and fluid leakage from the blood vessels, which collects beneath the skin of the nose and face.
For this reason, during the first few days after surgery, it is better to keep the head higher than the body so that these interstitial fluids can drain away from the nose, head, and face.
When you are sitting or standing, the head is naturally higher than the body. However, when lying down, it is better to place two or three pillows under your head so that your head remains slightly elevated above your body.

Proper Sleeping Position After Rhinoplasty
After rhinoplasty, sleeping with two pillows keeps the head slightly elevated above the body, which helps reduce fluid accumulation and swelling during the early days after surgery. Maintaining an angle of about thirty degrees is usually sufficient. Patients should avoid sleeping on their side or stomach to prevent pressure on the nose. According to Dr. Hosnani, following this simple advice can help swelling subside faster and reduce the sensation of nasal heaviness.

Sleeping on Your Side After Rhinoplasty:

Another common question is whether it is possible to sleep on your side after rhinoplasty. The answer is yes, you may sleep on your side, but you should be careful not to put pressure on your nose. In other words, place two or three pillows under your head and make sure the nose is not pressed against the pillow or bed.

Turning From One Side to the Other After Rhinoplasty:

You may turn from one side to the other while sleeping, and this does not usually cause a problem. You do not need to remain completely straight in one position. You may change position during sleep. The only important point is to avoid pressing the nose against the pillow.

After two or three days have passed since surgery, you can gradually reduce the number of pillows. For example, after seven or eight days, you can usually sleep in a normal position, turn from one side to the other, and there is no strict rule that you must sleep flat on your back without moving. Therefore, sleeping after rhinoplasty is not difficult and should not be a major concern for you.

Sleeping after rhinoplasty
For one month after rhinoplasty, it is recommended to sleep with two pillows or a high pillow so that the head remains elevated above the body. This position reduces blood flow and fluid accumulation in the face, helping swelling and bruising resolve faster. Sleeping flat or on the stomach or side may put pressure on the nose.
