Botox Injection

Dr. Hamidreza Hosnani

ENT Specialist | Rhinoplasty Surgeon in Tehran | Nose Surgery Specialist

Botox is an injectable substance used to temporarily paralyze muscles. It is actually a type of toxin that is injected locally into specific muscles responsible for wrinkles, such as those on the forehead or around the eyes. This injection reduces wrinkles and its effect usually lasts about six months. Temporary muscle relaxation prevents the formation of wrinkles, especially during facial expressions such as smiling or frowning.

It Is Better to Leave at Least Two Weeks Between Rhinoplasty and Botox Injection Until Severe Swelling of the Nose and Face Subsides

What Is Botox and How Does It Work?

Botox is actually a form of botulinum toxin that is injected into muscles in very small, controlled amounts. By reducing muscle activity, it helps smooth wrinkles and decrease excessive facial muscle movements.

Can Botox Injection Before Rhinoplasty Cause Problems?

In general, Botox injections in facial areas do not prevent nasal surgery from being performed. However, if the injection has been done near the nose, it is better to allow an appropriate time interval between the injection and the surgery.

Dr. Hosnani’s Recommendation:

Dr. Hosnani recommends leaving a 2-week interval between Botox injection and rhinoplasty.
This interval is recommended because:
the effect of Botox has time to stabilize
any possible swelling or bruising can resolve
it becomes easier for the surgeon to accurately assess the facial muscles

Botox After Rhinoplasty

When can Botox or filler be injected after surgery? After rhinoplasty, it is better to wait until the initial swelling has decreased. In most cases:
Botox injection is possible about 4 to 6 weeks after nasal surgery.
In some cases, if swelling is more significant, the doctor may recommend waiting 2 to 3 months.
If you are in a hurry and want to have filler and Botox done during the same trip:
🔹 For Botox, wait at least 2 weeks.
🔹 For filler, wait at least 1 month.

If you are not in a hurry and have enough time:
🔹 For Botox, it is better to wait at least 2 months.
🔹 For filler, it is better to wait at least 3 months.

These are minimum timeframes and apply to areas other than the nose (such as the cheeks, chin, smile lines, and similar regions).

❌ Botox or filler injection in the nasal area is not recommended at all.

If a patient insists, according to Dr. Hosnani’s recommendation, it should be done no sooner than 3 months after surgery, but ideally any injection into the nose should be avoided for a full year.
